What is disclosure? 💰🏠

Disclosure is the exchange of documents in a property law settlement that contains relevant information about a party’s financial position. The duty of disclosure is part of the pre-action procedures that the Court requires all parties to undertake, even if the matter is not yet before the Court. Subsequently, there are consequences for not complying with your disclosure obligation.

Disclosure assists each party’s legal representatives to determine the proper value of the overall property pool. Providing disclosure will also assist in working out any adjustments that might need to be made based on contributions made during the relationship by either party.

If you you received a letter from your ex’s lawyer requesting that you provide your disclosure, Smoke Family Law can assist you with the disclosure process and help guide you through the negotiation and settlement process. Call us for a confidential chat on 0499 004 555
